Re: You Would Think this was Simple...

Pulleys belted together as you describe will both turn the same direction. Hey thanks for the quick reply: I must have lacked coffee there for a moment! (LOL) Another question though... I am using a 275 gallon oil tank to store the diesel fuel for the engine. It has only limited ports (3) 2 inch po...

You Would Think this was Simple...

A long story short, I am trying to do cogeneration at my house. This means I must hook up an engine to a PTO generator. I have an engine with a hand clutch and multiple belt pulley to do this, but what side of the PTO generator do I mount the engine? I know as viewed from the front the engine turns ...

Re: Steam Boilers

I took my first class last night and really liked it. I was afraid where I was not a residential boiler person first that I would not be able to keep up, but that is not the case. High pressure steam is so radically different that there is no need to start at small boilers. But I also like that ther...

Re: Making Tall Grass Short

The good Huskys start with a 3, like 372xp. The 572's are just for swearing at. My saws are a ported MS460 with wrap handle for falling and bucking large wood, and a MS260 for everything else. I have been waiting for the 500 Stihl to come out; that will be the first fully fuel injected chainsaw and...

Re: Steam Boilers

And for what it is worth, this does relate to bulldozers, just not MODERN bulldozers. (LOL) At a Maine Logging Museum they had a working Steam Lombard Log hauler, and their philosophy was; "Mainer's paid to have it fixed up to running order, so why not allow people to ride and even drive it. He aske...

Steam Boilers

I just got the word that I got accepted into the High Pressure Steam Boiler school. As many of you know, I can no longer farm because the work was too much for my illness (cancer) so I have been working with the USDA in a program that gets disabled farmers working in the private sector. My Medical T...

Re: What would you like to operate?

I'd like to have operated: https://www.bigbrutus.org/about.html When she was working. A person does not realize how big that stuff is until they compare it to the size equipment I work with anyway. here a decent wheeler dump truck will only haul 14 cubic yards, and Big Brutus could fill 8 of those ...

Re: Book Update

I'd suggest making sure you copyright it before releasing anything. There is no need to do anything; it is already has a copywrite, and protected by copywrite law the moment I saved the book on my computer. A registered copywrite is a negative type of protection in that it helps the copywrite holde...

Re: Help issue with JD 350 B

On the same 350D and it would stop working after just a little bit of working time.

The problem was as simple as a clogged Reverser Filter.

Again, maybe being a 350B the problem is different, but always check the easy stuff first.

Re: Help issue with JD 350 B

I had that same problem when I bought my 350D as well, and my Grandfather was nervous that I bought junk when it did not move getting it on the trailer.... My problem was a simple fix though. The clutch pedal does not have greaseable points so it was sticking. The clutch spring that pulls it back ge...

Book Update

Lavoy was really a motivator in getting me moving again on my book called " Greater than Gold , which is a memoir about me finding the second motherlode here in Maine, as well as my struggles through an intense personal trial including ill-health, financial run, treachery and even human death. Just ...

Re: What would you like to operate?

Was told by a guy who used to work high iron, similar to tower climbing, you have to be an adrenaline junkie. I am really considering it. That job right now is in really high demand as the industry makes changes. There are probably four or five companies hiring Tower Climbers in my area alone. As I...

Re: What would you like to operate?

Don't you hate the guys online who, when you ask a question, say something completely different! (LOL) I am that guy! But my dream job is to Tower Climb. I have always loved climbing things, and heights do not bother me, so to get paid to change the light bulbs on the tops of those towers...that is ...

Re: What would you like to operate?

I always wanted to mow the sides of the road. I watched them do that all my life, and being a farmer I have always loved: Mowing Hay Plowing fields So last year when a friend asked me if I would mow the roads for him, I jumped at the chance. I loved it, and did a good job because I really cared; I w...

Re: Adding to the Fleet

Additional equipement? A 4x4 wheel loader with 1 yard bucket for the gravel yard, maybe a mini. I got a gravel pit myself, nothing big at 8 acres, but quite a bit of gravel because it is down pretty deep; about 32 feet according to test drilling. Some is above the waterline, but not much. Legally I...
