1010 track seperation
Been putting this job off for awhile, need to rebuild tensioners and right steering clutch. I am ready to seperate the tracks. Could not identify the master link, so I guess one pin is as good as another. I have a torch, a drift pin, a big hammer and somebody fool enough to hold the pin while I beat...

440 loader
Going to look at a couple of 440 loaders next week. I'm not familar with that model wondered what the weak points are, anything a should be looking out for? They are at a dealer, both have sat outside for a few years, doubt they have been run for a while. Also any idea on price range say for somethi...

So if anybody out there knows of a machine available let me know, I live in NW Pa. near Tionesta Terry[/list][/b][/qu...

350 frame rails
Seems like a lot of posts about 350 and 450 side rails breaking. Since I am seeking a loader in this size am wondering, is this a major problem on those machinces? Is it confined to certain years or is it a genetic flaw inherent to the whole species? Since any machine I get will work for a living wo...

Charles, could you get the numbers off your engine block, I want to try and cross reference, mkae sure it will work. That should be 270, which was a more rugged motor that the 235, better able to take the the high rpms. Anyhow let me know and we can go from there. Do you know when it ran last? Terry

Lavoy Just saw your post, we must have been posting at the same time. Yes I'm looking for one I can rebuild. I plan to work on it over the summer, I only log in the winter and I have the 1010 to finish up this season with, so while I do need to get a motor it doesn't have to be right away. Why don't...

Bill, thanks for the website, got a lot of good info and leads off it. I figure any motor I get I'll do a total rebuild on, can't have it breaking down again, and I want to be sure of the job. Thanks Charles for the lead but I'm looking for just the motor. Right now I have 8 big trucks, 2 running,3 ...

It is a 235, that was a typo. Designation I think is G506, at one time I had determined it was a 1946 tho can't remember why now, I'll check some casting numbers again. I'd hate to use an original motor still in the can for this, that's something a collecter should be useing. My reading tells me the ...

This has nothing to do with John Deere, but I'm trying to hit all possible sources of information. Have ton and a half military truck cut down to make a log skidder, sometime I'll try to post photos, if you like old iron you'll love this. Anyhow for a motor it has a Chevy 245 straight six. It now ha...

Yeah, don't you just love it when you get some smartass kid telling you how it is. In spite of every thing I've said and other's comments I still believe "most" people are basically honest. It's just that the jerks are such major jerks they seem to overshadow everbody else. Working as a contractor I...

Again, we come back to the issue of liability. Here in Pa. if you own the machince you may be liable even though you aren't operating it. I'd get a written rental or lease agreement stateing the contractor was responsible in case of a lawsuit, and for any damage to the machine that was not normal we...
