you will need either an idiot light or a diode on ter.1 to work properly Thanks, you are correct. For others reading this post the #1 is the wire used to power the field of this series alternator , if either the diode or the light is not in the circuit when you shut off the key voltage from that wi...

Thanks for the info. I already ordered a 5/8" pulley, once I get the pulley in hand I'll pick up an alternator from Autozone.

Goldston, 421 and Gulf Rd can't miss it. 35Deg, 34'06.05" N -
79Deg, 18'01.74 W. Use Google earth you can see the equipment. I called about bucket control linkage, they said come out and look. Haven't done it yet.

Good job, perseverance at it's best. If it were me, I would still investigate putting newer style injector pump on it. Look for a crawler/loader grave yard. I've found one here in NC.

I replaced mine with a Delco internal regulator alternator, they are between $30 (7127- 1 year warranty)and $65 (DLG7127M), and I bought the cheapest one with a lifetime warranty (DL7127M) from Autozone, the more expensive ones have a lifetime warranty. Anyway, buy one of those and an "electrical p...

Do you have the ability to fix it yourself when something breaks? Where are you at in NC? Parts can be expensive but it all relative. You have to weigh how much more work you can get done versus the costs of maintaining and fixing it when it does break, because it will if your using it. I've been cl...

I was considering the same thing. I just converted my Ferguson TO35 to a 3 wire. Cost of a alternator versus the cost of a regulator are close to the same number. Did you have to change the alternator pulley? What I like about the 3 wire is the sensing wire. Could use one of the wires in the existin...

High Charging voltage 450C

I was using the loader over the weekend because it hasn't rained in my area of North Carolina in about a week... I noticed that the battery voltage was high 16 - 17 volts which tells me the regulator isn't regulating. I need to see if I have the alternator with the regulator attached or the separate...

If the 6 volt ignition/points appear to be the issue, convert it to electronic. Pertronix offer units for 6 volt with positive and negative ground. The 6 volt tractor guys have been using them with good success. Or as Stan suggested convert to 12 Volt and use one of his old CDI units :D As long as t...

Well, it is better. Now more junk can fall on it without wrecking things like will happen on my 420. Stan I can attest to that. I was cleaning up some of my property and one of the previous people at some point had tobacco drying shed there. They had run 3/8" piping through some concrete for the bu...

I've actually thought about drilling and tapping the nose for an eye at the balance point to get it off easier.

What I did was was weld 2 pieces of angle iron together to lay over the cylinder rods. I believe it was 1-1/2 1/4" angle.

i cant believe that you would have to pull the nose/rad. off to get the water pump off... i have a 2010 and it may not be easy but you can pull the pump off with out taking any thing off but the fan and belt Be that as it may, this is what the " Manual " says. Removal Drain Coolant Remove Radiator ...

good idea to loosen the belt because the only way to replace the belt is to pull the pump forward enough to slip a new belt between the shaft and lower pulley. good luck
