Re: concept of track wear

I had some undercarriage wear gauges re-produced a while back that compares the original profiles versus what you have on the crawler. Here is a link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/John-Deere-craw ... 1119381772

Re: Definately Oldest Crawler On JDCrawlers

Hey cutting edge, is there any market for hemlock siding in your area? Around here, including myself, we use 1” thick ruff cut hemlock boards for siding. 3 of the sides are cut so they are straight and the last side is left with the hemlock outer edge of the tree including the bark. My barn, pavilio...

Re: 2010 outside push converted to 6 way

Prince products are really good for the money. That is what I used on my 6 way build. They will provide years of trouble free use. Nice looking root rake! Now u need to add another valve and cylinders to make it hydraulically controlled!!!!

Re: thermostat

It's on the engine block where the top hose from the radiator goes into a metal casting held down by two bolts. Take off that connection and the thermostat is under it.

If anything cuttingedge, you made me aware of the dangers of cutting a "spring pole" tree. I watched a few YouTube videos on the proper way to cut one down since I never came across one yet in about 15 years of cutting firewood. Who knows you could of saved a life by writing this post about your exp...

I would start with draining the hydraulic fluid out of the tank and pull the cylinders and manually drain out the fluids for each cylinder by pulling the cylinder rod back and forth to try and get as much of the milky fluid out of the hydraulic system as possible.

Re: Smoke in hydraulic tank and 2 psi oil pressure

Just a shot in the dark. But is your hydraulic oil getting hot and boiling some moisture out of the fluid. Does your fluid look milky.

Surely there is no smoke coming from the engine thru the pump. If thats the case your engine would be full of hydraulic oil.

Re: gearmatic winch master control

Some of the older Gearmatic parts are interchangeable with the newer parts. Take a look at the model 19 parts, I think it is the newer model number, and compare the parts. There was a few parts that I had bought new that fit my gearmatic 8a and also for the original winch controller.

there is aftermarket relief valves available. You just have to watch the relief valve pressure settings when ordering a new one. There is various pressures available.
