I threw a pipe wrench on the end and got it to twist. I am going to soak ot overnight in ATF and see what tommorrow brings. I did not think of Surplus Center. I will see if they have anything close. Trator Supply doesnt stock anything close. Northern has one I will could make work for around $200, b...

Frozen Hydraulic Cylinder on 62 Blade-Any Hope?
A friend gave me a really nice 62 blade with all of the hardware for my 40c. I was hoping to replace the Frankenstein looking deal I have now. My current blade is a perfect example of why coat hangers do not make for good filler rod. I started getting ready for the swap and discovered that one of th...

So here's what I did: http://i481.photobucket.com/albums/rr178/hydrogeo/photobucket-24606-1332635728063.jpg I ground the risers that were broken off flat and drilled 4 holes through the bolster. Then I burned a piece of angle iron onto the back of the grill guard with some 6011 rod (I love my old Li...

FWIW I would not bother with an electric winch. They are great for recovery but awful for logging. I tried to skid a few logs with the one on my offroading rig and it was a miserable waste of time as the duty cycle is too short. I dont have any experience with them but I have heard of a few people u...

Good approach. I just changed the 12yram old motor oil out for 10w40- generic brand from tractor supply. I figured at less than 2000 rpms this thing probably does not need synthetic. I will probably change it in around 20 hrs for thegrade you are using. I went with 80w90 for the trans, finals and wi...

Hytran is just a universal tractor hydraulic and trans oil. Most farm tractors use the same oil for both the trans and hydraulic systems from a common reservoir. I run the fancy synthetic stuff in my Kubota, but the old junk just gets standard hytran. I'm sure JD sells it. I get my fluids either at ...

Jim, glad the bolster is steel, thanks! The SS Originality sailed for this machine decades ago, so I just want everything to be solid and functional. Paul, I agree I need to do something better with the chokers An old timer also warned me never to be tempted to store a chain in the footrest well. Do...
