Do you have the serial number? There is a guide here: http://www.jdcrawlers.com/messageboard/ ... php?t=2415 that will help you cross reference the machine to the correct year.

Yes people have "short tracked" them before by taking out a link. It is a fairly short solution to a much bigger problem.

Remember the sprocket is only 1 piece, the wear is probably everywhere else. Link pins/bushing, front idler, rollers, it all adds up.

That is amazing, most people never have the actual resolve to get something that far gone ( that they themselves did not tear down) back into service.

I tip my hat to you!

I'm not an expert but here is my opinion on the subjects raised. 1) Be very careful when they say 50% it's probably 5%. One of the best ways to get overall wear is to find a chart that gives the wear of the chain and measure it. I've seen machines for example that 100% wore out was 25" between pins ...

20 years ago I might of tried such a feat, in litigious world we live in today I would not. If you were involved in any type of accident with injuries you would more than likely be jailed, your insurance would not cover you for "gross negligence" , and you would have no defense. As others have said ...

I got a smile and not the good kind

I got a pretty good smile in the bucket of my 450c loader, I would guess a couple of inches in the center. I saw a thread on fixing tractor's with the issue here: http://www.forestryforum.com/board/inde ... ic=73085.0

What is the best way to fix them on a loader?

Thanks!

Yes all the bushings are wore out, the holes go thru you can apply penetrating oil from the bottom. I would also lift the crossbar to make a gap where you can apply heat to the threaded area under it and then work with a very good impact. It's going to take awhile, you do not want to break those bol...

Just spit balling here but I know the dry clutch machines are pretty bad about seizing up after setting a few years. Is it possible the clutches were locked and when it started it ripped the material and basically both steering clutches are bad? I've read many many articles where people have the dry...

I used to pull my 450c with a 3 axle GN and a 1 ton dual wheel truck and I was scared silly most of the time. It just felt heavy and sluggish and I was always concerned about stopping ( Yes all 3 axles have brakes). Now I'm pulling it with a F600 with a dual tandem axle and it's feel so right! I fee...

Yep, your experience is about like mine. It was really squishy and is some areas I just piled the material and I will hopefully do a fininal grade push tonight. I was able to get a fair amount of work roughed in but there was no hope of cleaning it up that wet. I probably have 500 pounds of mud pack...

pushing after rain

Besides making a mess and packing the u/c what are the draw backs from pushing after a rain with some mud. There is no chance of getting stuck. I assume it would be harder to level things?

I'm desperate to get this project done and it won't stop raining. I think we had maybe an inch last night.

Thank you for the suggestions, I'll do the best I can within what my friend will allow. He says he appreciates my concerns but he has addressed the issues with the person who's going to build the shop. He just wants me to compact it the best I can with my loader even after I explained I have less PS...

Your spring is broken in at least 2 places, you will probably want to address that pretty quick. My spring was like that and I kept throwing tracks..
