Re: 400g outside track width

Here is a spec sheet for a 400G http://www.murphyused.com/images/specs/102.pdf I think the width is 64 inches given the track gauge is 50 in. and grouser length is 14 In. but I have never measured one.

Re: grease plug on tensioner jd450

You need a ball large enough to cover the opening the grease comes out through, but small enough the grease can get around it and out the relief orface. I would say somewhere over a half the diameter of the plug, possibly 2/3 or 3/4 the diameter of the plug. I do not believe it is a critical diamete...

Just Idle curiosity but did Wisconsin ever build any water cooled engines? All I have ever known of are air cooled.

Re: 420 crawler engine surging

Be sure you have the throttle plate and choke plate in the carb. wide open for no air flow restriction. Possibly even remove the air cleaner. For Compression tests. The added oil in cylinders helps the rings to seal, if compression stays the same after adding oil it indicates the leak is at the valv...

Re: farmall h 12volt gen system

Most all alternators were built to be used as negative ground. If your IH was used for a while with an alternator, it is probably wired to be negative ground and no good reason to change it now.

Re: Electric Motor Question for Sawmill

Get a three phase converter. Run a three phase motor off single phase power. Google or Wikipedia has lots of information on them and also Wikipedia has a big page on horsepower.

Re: jd 2010 ignition ?

This is a gas crawler I assume. Disconnect the battery cable. Or quickly remove the big wire from the coil, but you will still have current thru the points and coil primary.

I think John DeMarris could probably give you chapter and verse on them. I see him on Yesterday's Tractor as "jdem" now. and I have his email as "wrenchalot at yahoo dot com". I bought a Case Manual for my 580CK from him when he was moving from NewYork to Michigan. For the email forget the quotes an...

Re: JD 1010 blowing coolant

Stan the two stroke Jimmy diesels do not have INTAKE Valves. They have exhaust Valves. The two cyl. 53 series only have two exhaust valves per cyl. Bigger engines (3 or more cyl.) can either have two or four exhaust valves per cyl. depending on the head. The rootes blower on the side is used as a sc...

I do not see where that would prohibit interchanging the housings unless they needed more clearance for the 56 tooth bull gear. And then the new would replace the old but not the other way around unless you did some grinding. After thinking for a minute, are the bull gears in the final drive housing...
