Re: Belly Pan removal

You should tell what model your crawler is.

Re: Blade float on a 450() with a Drott 4 in 1

As far as I remember the float is the loader lift arms only, same as a dozer or regular loader. No float on the bucket curl or 4 in 1 bucket clamshell operation.

Re: 6 volt battery for JD 440IC

Group 1, top post battery to my knowledge, Deere is good, what ever get the best CCA you can find in that group size. I can't say I have ever seen, or heard of, a side post 6 volt battery. If you have, please post the info, many may be interested.

Re: 450C, No drive on right side, no fluid pressure

Since the 450C has wet steering clutches they are applied by hydraulic pressure on a piston, not a conventional pressure plate set up. I would suggest checking all the adjustments and pressures of the steering system if you haven't. Beyond that it sounds like you are loosing pressure somewhere in th...

Re: John deere 550 dozer help

Welcome to the board. Your post on your 550 should be on the Late Models Board, which is for the 350 and later models. It will likely get moved over there. Since it stops when you pull either steering lever when backing and does not like backing up hill, that to me heads back to the HLR. Sounds like...

Email Lavoy (postmaster@jdcrawlers.com) or call him during central time zone business hours, his number is on the home page. He sells quality parts for JD crawlers in his store, and it supports this site.

Re: 350C Cross Country Travel

What are the loading and unloading conditions? Can you take one track off and get it on with help from the 550G you are taking its place with? Winch or cable and snatch block helping side with no track? Know any one with an old 350 regular pad track laying around? One track should narrow you by more...

Re: Removing Final Drive Pinion Shaft

I don't think your problem is that you took the set screw completely out. I expect either the inner bearing cone or the drum is seized to the shaft, maybe both. Try reaching past the teeth of the pinion gear with a small punch/drift that can fit between the gear teeth and contact the inner race of t...

Re: 350 Stuck Left Steering Clutch

If it is stuck that solid and the lever is not going back to the full released position on its own, I say it needs to come apart and properly fix it, there might be more to it than just a stuck steering clutch. Sure, you might block it up and use a backhoe as you asked, however I would expect the ho...

Re: Logging Arch for my 40c?

My wheel arch uses a track roller, inner edges cut away to make it a smoother shape, on bottom in the throat and steel rollers (heavy pipe with bearings on a shaft) on the sides.

Did you remove the set screw from the steering clutch brake drum that secures the drum on the shaft?

Re: Rossa Master leak

The parts book will show you all the seals. There is also a JD manual SM2045 and Roosa Master/Stanadyne manuals available if you want to do it yourself. My personal choice (I know others will say different, that is their call and I respect that), I would remove the pump and have it gone through and ...

Re: 450C, No drive on right side, no fluid pressure

I always ask, just to confirm, does your serial number begin 450 C, a letter, then the 6 digit number? 450s have been often mislabeled, as far as the series, over the years and it makes a difference in information that applies. Also loader or dozer? There is just one pump supplying oil for the steer...

Re: Logging Arch for my 40c?

I recommend a wheeled one. Not bad once you get used to it and you can get the butts up better than one on the crawler. Just use a bit of care, if you get off to the side on a pull, many have flipped them. Ideally the hitch on the arch will swivel so as not to twist the crawler drawbar. They appear ...

Re: JD 350 track loader

Hi Jeff, The 450 breakdown Bruce pointed you to is close to the one for a 350. Here is the 350 breakdown from the parts catalog introduction. SN = serial number T = Tractor (You should have found a T in front of the 4) 4 = JD350 E = Crawler loader 3 = Diesel D = Transmission (Sliding gear with rever...
