Not totally related but I had a chain saw that did exactly what is happening to you. When cold, started right up and ran great, for about 5 minutes. Then, just dead.
It was the electronic ignition.

Re: New Brush Sweeps
A pipe fitting between hose and cylinder serves as a weak point. Better to break a cheap fitting than tear up a hose. Street els served to put the hose parallel to the cylinder and allowed easy clamping. Might make building a guard easier too.

Re: New Brush Sweeps
Nice setup. I had a D4 with a blade setup like yours. My problem was brush breaking hose fittings right at the cylinders. I put street els on the hoses and a hose clamp holding the hose tight to the cylinder. Reduced the problem greatly. Still carried easy out and extra fittings!

I had a condenser give me grief. If you have more problems, you might replace that.

Re: JD 1010 buying advise
Lucky doesn't apply to crawlers. No such thing. If it was an easy fix it most likely would have been done.
It will have to be really cheap....

Re: Yay! For Accu-Link Belts!
Something else came to mind about these belts. Put one on a table saw. It greatly smoothes up the saw's operation.

No, late model guys are just too lazy to work on their crawlers.

Re: Diagnose the problem??
Took it up the canyon mowing. I don't recall it ever running that smoothly. Trash could have been in there way before I bought and rebuilt it. Never had that fitting off before.

Re: Diagnose the problem??
Fuel bowl had a little in it, mostly clean flakes.
The filter on the fitting in the carb had a lot of junk in it! I will make a run up the canyon mowing again to see if it behaves.
If it does, back to town to mow the hill.

Missing on both.
I will get some time to check everything this weekend. I'll post the exam results. I hope it's not in the tank, it's almost full!
