cover

Thanks Lavoy,Is it a special cover or can I make one out of flat plate? My main objective is to increase the psi in my hydraulic system.Do you know a good size pump to use on the front? Not sure what the flow/psi is for stock pump.

Thanks, Cooter

hydraulic questions

I want to remove stock JD hydraulic pump and replace with a front mounted pump. Can I just remove old pump and cover with a plate? And where can I get a splined yoke to fit the crank shaft? This is on my 420.

Thanks, Cooter

reverser

Reverse gear in the transmission works fine.I've experimented with this and for sure its in the reverser.I've got to find a parts break down pic and maybe I can figure it out.Maybe Lavoy will have some ideas when he sees this post.Thanks.

reverser

I used my 420 for about 6 hrs yesterday pushing back snow banks. From what I have read here, my reverser is the "gear" type.Occasionally when I go to back up (using reverser) the crawler would bind up when I start to let the clutch out.Put the reverser in forward position and move ahead a bit and the...

gas cap

Since theres a thread going on gas caps, I thought I might add this.I, too, had to get my 420 out and push back some of the snow banks I made from earlier storms.I checked my gas after a few hours working and was surprised to find pressure in the gas tank.I'm presuming this is made from heat of the ...

You may be able to figure out which cyl it is with a infrared hand held thermometer and check exhaust manifold temp for each cyl close to the head. This has worked for me in the past.

sand blast cabinet

Haven't dared to venture to the shop yet but have been poking around on the web.I see a smaller unit for $210 US from Harbor Freight with free shipping (US).Not a bad looking unit for the money. It will cost a good part of that to build by the time you buy sheet metal, angle iron,glass,hinges,latches,...

sand blast cabinet

I just got a hip replacement last week so I'm not very mobile yet. Will try to get out to the shop next week and get measurements and maybe a couple of pics.Once you use your cabinet, especially for restoration work, you'll wonder how you got along with out it.

sandblast cabinet

I built my own cabinet a few years ago and use it regularly.I bent up some 16ga sheet metal and bought some internal parts from TP and haven't looked back. For the dust collection, I used an old house dryer fan/motor and vented it outside.I've got my own sheet metal brake, shear and spot welder so thi...

6 way blade parts needed

Saw this tilt set-up on a 1010 and since I'm in the process of making my blade hyd angle on my 420, I thought it would be nice to have hyd tilt. I can manually tilt blade now. I could make this system, thats in the pic, work if I could find the pieces to mount on the blade, the rest I can build. Any...
