Worn out track 40c
I replaced one of my tracks with a good used one that I bought. Is the old chain worth anything or should I just sell it for scrap. It has a lot of slop in it. It is off a 4 roller.

Re: 40c clutch free play
I had exactly the same problem about 3 years ago. I had the motor rebuilt and while I had it out decided I should install a rebuilt clutch. Being a "newbie", I assumed that the rebuilt clutch would have the fingers set to spec so I just installed it and put everything back together. Couldn't get clu...

Perfect, Lavoy! Tapped right out using a small punch. Thanks for the great advice.

Re: 4oc Transmission Case
Thanks lavoy. I did drill and tapped just a little deeper and I already picked up some 1/2" long bolts so should be ok. Grandson just graduated welding school so the washer and nut process will be good experience for him. Tried to drill out the broken rivets for the data tag but no luck. Also tried ...

4oc Transmission Case
I am doing some repairs to the left side frame on my crawler so I thought that while the side frame is off, it would be a good time to replace the broken bolts that hold the left foot rest to the transmission. I know that 3/4" long bolts were used originally but wondering how far I can safely drill ...

40c safety blocks
Safety blocks were missing on my crawler when I got it. I picked up a set of used blocks and am installing them. It appears that the "nose" on the block is longer on one end than the other. Does the long end go up or down or does it matter?

Re: 40c Serial Number Tag
Thanks Jim. I have some of the drive rivets you suggested but wasn't sure that they would "bite" into the cast iron of the center frame. I have sanded the area of the broken rivets but can't really can't see the outline of the broken rivet. I will just use a drill of appropriate size for the rivets ...

40c Serial Number Tag
Does anyone know the size and type of rivets to use to hold the serial number tag on. The old rivets are broken off and since I have the side frame off for repairs, I want to drill out the old rivets and reattach the tag. I don't want to try to drill the holes into the casting. I would rather just d...

Re: #61 blade mount left side
I agree. It's probably a 60. Go to the same site and look up the diagram for the 60 and then you will know. If it's anything like my 61 any similarities to the original are purely accidental after 60+ years of haphazard repairs and "improvements". Good luck!!

Re: #61 blade mount left side
Seth, I too a look at mine this morning. Not sure which piece you are referring to but the side pieces of the lifting frame are both the same length-22" overall and 20" center to center but they are an integral part of the lifting frame so that's probably not what you need. Maybe if you can give me ...

Re: #61 blade mount left side
I think the dozer blade on my 40 is a #61. I have a parts book and can measure the part you need. Which part of the mount do you need, the long arm that runs back to the pivot point? I can take some measurements if it will help.
