40c tracks

Well, this is an old thread, but I see willyr is still around. I'd like to know if Terry Briggs is still working with "Johnny Poppers"? I've been looking for someone with a track press in this neck of the woods. My 40C is in Corinth, ME, tho I live in MA. (unfortunately) Lavoy is too far away, so I'...

40c tracks

Sorry, Yellow, I meant the hyd. system on MY 40C was a butcher job. I has a large canister shaped oil rerervoir sitting in the RH fender and What appears to be pipe elbows for fittings, rather than true hyd. fittings. They may be high pressure, though, as they've been working for many years. Also, t...

40C tracks

Lavoy, Good point! I hadn't noticed your last post. When I purchased this dozer, I didn't know the first thing about crawlers. Still don't, actually, but am learning fast, both from your Forum and from hands on experience. My criteria, at the time, was, it had to be light enough to haul on my car tra...

OK, What you all say is true. As a former All-around Machinist, I am familiar with the hazards of dealing with hardened steel items, and I hope subsequent readers make note of these cautions. As I have said, these thoughts may never come to fruition. As far as flying steel goes, I have a friend who ...

40C track pins & bushings

Remember, Plan A will probably be implemented, I also have Plans C & D in mind. Plan C is IF & When I put my old South Bend lathe together, I may attempt to make my own pins and/or bushings. Though the metallurgy may not be conducive to long life, they will last longer than the present status. Plan ...

40C

Thanks Lavoy, I realize I probably won't be able to change the pins and bushings, but will experiment. The extra links could come in handy, should I break one. For the $1500 I paid, I can run Ol Clancy (Has a loose track plate that clanks) into the ground. Hopefully I can finish my projects before p...

40C

I just ordered a segment of 3 track links for a 40C, on ebay, from "farmerjohnsparts". Price was $60 plus $22 S+H. He cuts the adjacent link on each end so you get 3 good links and 2 cut ones. My bushings are worn through to the pins, and I have 27 links/pads, so I believe it's short tracked. My pla...

40C

Hi, Tessiers Farm I saw several of your previous posts. I'm getting jealous, it seems like every one is acquiring an MC or 40C, in nice shape, for less than I paid for my 40C, which I bought last summer. LOL. Mine is in pretty rough shape, it runs, steers left and right, back and forth and the blade...

John Deere MC

Hi, Yellow, That is a really nice looking MC. A lot better than my recent 40C purchase. I'm commenting because Lavoy mentions your dozer blade is probably a 62 from a 420. It appears similar to the one on my 40C, but they did a real butcher job on the hydraulic system.

MC

Hah, a recent post! I'm in Spfld, MA, and my 40C is in Maine. Makes it a bit hard to work on, as it's a junkyard refugee. It is evidently an early 3-roller, which shares a lot of parts with it's daddy, the MC. :-)
