yeah Stan.. i was a bit curious on that....tried tractor data on the jd300 and no such animal hows up, haven't been to look at the machine myself so couldn't verify id... deere does list the jd300 as backhoe, be nice if can get running etc as weight checks to be around 8k like my dozer..jd440ic am g...

good to hear from you JimB, missed out on the jd440 cause i was a bit reluctant on that hydraulic pump issue. Deere info seems to be a bit heftier machine yet much lighter than the 12 14 16k of more modern units. tis a bit uglier ..worn rusted banged..than any of my other machines, but thats mostly ...

MrAlaska, Reverser by itself heavy but i think weighs maybe just a bit less than 100bs. engine with bell housing..gas i am guessing at around 300-400...have one loose on trlr and can move it around..i weigh 140lb now tranny is something else..without finals..it probably weighs between 600-800 again ...

sounds like rust in the mechanical operation of the levers and connecting rods....needs jb blaster or penetrant of some kind to loosen and working back and forth...also need manual on adjusting....think maybe some of these models use hydraulics etc. book should tell you...mine is jd440 o is all mech...

Nice to know your temperature was down to zero, but lacks a bit ...not knowing where at? MERRY CHRISTMAS to all...and a WHITE Christmas
Went to bed midnite 1 inch of snow...Woke up at 8 and we now have 8 inches!! Guess i got a bit of work et to do, little ol 40 wheeled 6 volts needs charged up...should start...if not will fire up jd440 dozer and give her a try.

AlaskaMr, normal tools and sockets...impacts, come along, chain hoist, fire wrench, box ends...up to 1.25 inch, and hanger for finals if you have to remove, is shown in manual and can make your own...get dozer up on at least 2-2x8's orralroad ties so can get under to take bellypans off...believe you...

Alaskamr, looks like you really want a job! ok lets look at it a bit closer. shipping weight from factory is 5850lbs. hood..close to 100 fenders..together maybe 100 seat chair..100 skid plates..300 maybe close to 400 total at most now only other things to reduce weight are nose cone, radiator, engin...

just for info... i have a jd440ic, has a 6 way jd64 blade and i think a lite forestry cage or rop.. i have a total weight of just under 9000lbs. cage or protector weight is probably 300 or so pounds, maybe bit less, i can roll the thing but need come along to lift back on. i think specs on 64 blade ...

am curious ...where are you at with this engine? I had my 2 cyl engine stuck and got it done..easily,(it had set for 15-20 years) tho had pb blaster an miracle oil setting for at least 6 months in the cyl....only one usually gets stuck...that would be the front cylinder....pull oil pan and loosen be...
