Location information

Hello, In a number of posts on the board, it would be helpful to know where people are located. When you have a moment, edit your profile (click the Profile button at the top of the screen) and include which state/country you live in at a minimum. Including the city or town would be even better. Thi...

Paint colors?

Any of you guys have a PPG or DuPont paint code for the JD industrial yellow used in the 50's?

I've never heard of having too little restriction on an air intake causing fuel mixture problems. Richen it up!

Ralph, on the board here, clued me in to the fact that the first weekend of the Oregon tractor show is for gas and diesel tractors. The second week centers around steam power.

Granted both types are at both weekends, but not as many.

The roll pin should be facing down and the "plunger" should be screwed into the valve body for normal operation. If the roll pin faces up, the valve will only travel half the distance and won't function normally.

Weight of a couple tractor items

So I may be picking up a JD #61 blade assembly (complete), and a JD #55 H 3-bottom plow. Any idea how much each item weighs roughly? I have a dually diesel truck, but was hoping to save some fuel costs by using my 4Runner and a single axle trailer good for 2,000lbs cargo weight instead.

Yeah. That Lindeman sitting there made me sad. It's been there for a number of years.

The Great Oregon Steam-Up is the last weekend of July and first weekend of August, back to back weekends. It's located in Brooks Oregon, a few miles North of Salem, just off of I-5.

First time showing a tractor at a show

A good friend of mine said he was taking his '36 International truck to a truck show and that some tractors might be there, and he encouraged me to take my crawler. He lined up a gooseneck trailer for me to use so I loaded up the 40C and the JD E 1-1/2HP stationary engine I have. Even though the bla...

Is the control valve set up to float (it can be)? Are the piston seals on the hydraulic cylinders shot?

In my case, someone had put undersized o-rings on the pistons, so as you can guess, there was a huge internal leak.

I went to the Great Oregon Steam-Up at Brooks Oregon last weekend. It was fantastic, except that for in the sea of green there wasn't a single JD crawler to be found except a non-running rusting Lindeman on a concrete pad. So...I'm going to do something about that next year :-)

I suprise people at how well the 6V system starts up my 40c, even at sub-zero temps. It's a badge of pride :-)
