... told me it needed steering clutches. I took off the top covers and found clutch linkage broken. Got a new one and adjusted everything and it seems to be working great.

Have you operated it yourself? Those pics aren't much help. Ask the owner what is the lowest he'd take and go from there. Prices for a comparable machine can be found online from various sources.

There will be a hose that goes from the steering spool to the clutch itself. Mine had a giant hole in it.
And yet it still performed well when cold? (When the machine is cold it’s running great. About an hour into pushing dirt, and I’m loosing power on my right hand track.)

Re: 450C near death accident

Stuff happens real quick at times. We live way off grid, so it's always in my mind to be extra, extra careful. We had a lot of bark beetle killed Ponderosa pines to take out, so we were cabling for dozer tension and cutting. We were really ripping along...almost as if we were in competition pace. Sh...

I can see the end of this project coming.
Just had to comment on the beautiful resto on the crawler. My friend does complete restos on pre-war Rolls-Royce autos...7 firsts at Pebble Beach...I could see you doing that...and making the big bucks!

Re: Snow-Cut Pads for my '99 450G

Trek Brand. We have been using it for 15+ years. Rails held up great on our widepad 350’s. Never had any issues with their rollers or sprockets. Well that was a great lead for me! Thank you! While they didn't have pads with the holes cut, the company sent them out for me for plasma cutting then shi...

Thanks for your feedback. That agrees with everything I have found also. I'll be ordering a set tomorrow!

I've heard the name and seen some ads but can't say I have knowingly seen their product. Will they give you any references that are using their undercarriage components you could contact?
Good idea...been researching what I can find, seems they all rate about the same.

Re: Snow-Cut Pads for my '99 450G

Thank you for the part number! The local dealer (PAPE) had no clue...called them Friday, said they would research and get back to me. Looks like I can now help him with your help! I chose Berco SALT for my rails, never called them...maybe should try. https://www.greenpartstore.com/John-Deere-Open-Ce...

Re: Snow-Cut Pads for my '99 450G

Well I can't source them anywhere. Any idea what a ballpark figure would be to have my pads regroused at a shop...and wondering if they would also be set up to cut the hole?
