Junk 1010 sprockets on eBay

Post by wwattson » Fri Apr 11, 2008 6:50 am

I'd have to say if it wasn't for the photos, these would be completely misrepresented. I suppose if somebody was looking for a couple of donors to weld rims onto, they might work for that. I'm mostly posting this so somebody inexperienced doesn't get sucked in.

Funny you posted them,,,,I bought these from the people that are listing them, even asked question before I bid, once I got them I was Pissed....I called them and told them I wanted to ship them back and get a refund, I even posted them here on this site, for what I paid for them, not including shipping,,well after no contacts and the people being real jerks I contacted ebay and they put the pressure on them to offer a refund...They were rude and just poor to deal with , dont buy any thing from that group.....the post may still be in the parts for sale section........Sincerly....Mark Cc

I've seen alot of this on ebay lately, crawlers listed as having a great UC with sprockets so worn I'd be afraid of getting all sliced up just trying to remove them. It's to bad that this sort of thing happens, it would make it real tough for someone who has no experiancxe with crawlers to get a good one.

Having worked for deere for a couple years, done several undercairage jobs and I can honestly say that I've only seen 1 set of sprockets that were worse off than that. At least those still have some resembalance of teeth The worst set I saw were almost round the track was jumping teeth just trying to drive straight into the shop, guess they got their moneys worth out of them

What gets me is these clowns know enough to list the items and say enough about them to sell them, but then when you want them to stand behind what they sell, you get some flemsy excuse about how they don't know much about them.
It could be the perfect crime, commited by some folks that seem to be "honest".
I think the word "honest" has long lost it's original definition. Today, it seems to mean, "well, as long as I get my money and do not get caught up with very often."
What a shame that a man thinks more of money than he does his word.

Send them an email through the auction site and tell them that you would like to come view some parts they have for sale. Then you can get all of the rest of their information.
The email address on the auction site is strange, but could be a ploy to help prevent ID theft.

I have bought as few items from these people as well. I drove 6 hours each way to get the parts. I bought final drives that were misrepresented as well. His name is Jim. He is nice to talk to in person, but doesn't do what he says he is going to do. I bought several rollers from him as well. They were in reasonable shape and I am happy with those. He has not followed through with anything else that we agreed on. I got into a little disagreement with him and decided that I am not going to do any more business with him. Best to stay away all togther.

Well, the 1010 listing he added at $99.99 has what looks like one decent sprocket of the two. The other listing at $79.99 that he says he thinks is a 40c is actually a 420c, 430c and early 440c sprocket. The 40c or 420c sprocket is actually 40c and the 350/450 sprocket fits a 350 and 400 but not 450.

Not exactly mister informed unless he's dumb like a fox. He's got most of the part numbers listed so must not feel like looking them up. Buyer beware.

I think I got screwed by the same guy many years ago- won an auction on Ebay and then he told me he had already sold the part to someone else. Luckily I hadn't sent money so I just left negative feedback.

I've noticed as a general rule that most of the laypeople on Ebay that list JD crawlers or JD crawler parts do not know what models they fit and will list many models not knowing if it is correct or not. Some of them don't even list the correct parts/serial numbers.

The former or current JD dealers selling NOS parts are usually much better- they will use the correct parts number and models however many of them don't go through ther trouble to list the part description or application.

The key is to do your homework and use the parts manual for your machine to verify numbers. Also don't be afraid to ask many questions and even inspect parts in person if close enough. If they are resistant to questioning, then pass them by.

Junk 1010 sprockets on eBay

Post by lizrad999 » Thu Apr 24, 2008 2:33 pm

I have not had any dealing with them yet, but I was about to bid on the rollers and axles he has listed. Beleive it or not they look to be in 100% better shape than the ones I have....
If anyone knows of a place I can get some rollers not too far from Memphis, TN (250miles) I sure would be obliged.

Thanks in advance!

bought one bottom roller from them. the ad said "nice roller, good shape, tight" it held grease but it was pretty well worn down to nothing. if you'll notice their pictures of rollers are always so you can't see how much life is really in them. they know your not going to pay the shipping back on a heavy crawler part.
WISH IT WOULD STAY RUNNING!!!!
