Any info on CD manuals yet?.I cant seem to get a manual for a 440CI loader any place ether back order or ,sorry out of print. BULl$#*%,even a john deer dealer gives me the runaround,And the price if they could get it is too much.I think it is printed in gold feaf, SORRY started to get off on a rant.

Yep, the CD manual is done. I'm ready to start burning copies for those that are interested.

I checked with the post office and $3.85 covers priority mail anywhere in the U.S. for a CD sized package.

I'd like $20 + $3.85 (shipping) for a copy of the CD.

The CD will contain a text searchable PDF file of the 440 ICD parts catalog PC-609, text searchable PDF file of the JD (general motors) 2-53 series diesel engine SM-2028 Sections 10, 20, 30, 40, 45, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90, 100, 110, 120 & 130. It also has a text searchable PDF file of the 440 series spark ignition tractors service manual SM-2023 (includes tractor and crawler), all sections.

You can print out any page you want and it will look just like the original. If you haven't downloaded a copy of Adobe Reader 7.0 you should, the search features are the best yet.

I spent a LOT of hours with the scanner and OCR program to do all the conversions. I won't guarentee there aren't any typos but overall I think the job came out very well.

If someone wants to loan me a copy of the 440 IC parts catalog I would be more than happy to scan it in and add it to the CD. Since mine is an ICD I didn't care to spend the money to buy a IC parts catalog.

I'm not trying to make any money at this, just trying to recoup the cost of the manuals. Its amazing how much the paper copies cost!

All in all I think you'll be very pleased with whats on the CD.

I know Brad did not have the gas parts manual, I sent him mine to copy a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately the one I had was not loose leaf, so he said it would take longer to get it copied. I am sure he will post here when he gets them done.

Actually once I realized your's wouldn't work I bought one off of ebay and have already scanned it in and done the conversion work.

So the bottom line is the CD is now available and it has the 440 IC and 440 ICD service manuals AND the parts catalogs included on it.

Hello,

I was able to buy a JD440 Gas Crawler service manual on CD from my local tractor dealer - who obtained it directly from John Deere. However, it is all pictures - in other words, it is not searchable. I printed it off and the manual is clear enough for most purposes.

I do need a parts manual. I recently tore down my starter and it would have been much easier to have repaired it with a parts manual. I had to machine some new spacers which fit under the starter dfrive spring. Also since I had it apart, I converted the starter to solenoid activation using a Ford solenoid switch. It works well.

Just looking for a basic picture of ignition switch wireing ,switch has 2 or 3 positions besides off have power to switch but no power through switch ,replaced switch still no power have original 1950s switch and current replacement but the engine only runs when i hotwire coil ,system is basic gen, coil only any ideas?

I have the following manuals listed below that I can put on a CD for 1010 crawlers and attachments for others as well, if anyone is looking for them,

I am also working on the operator’s manuals for the 1010 that I have, these are bound and I am trying to figure out the best way to copy them. You can search on text in these as well, for the service manuals I am going to try to scan the color pages and update when I get a chance. The spec sheets are in color.

If anyone wants they can send me your manuals and I will copy and send a CD to you if you pay for the shipping.

$10 should pay for the CD and shipping, I have a lot of time in these as well and these are the ones that I have been collection over the past years, and thought to scan to share.

I hope all that wants a CD can enjoy this history and data in these just like this web site.
