Hi: If you got to the John Deere parts catalog web site shown below, yo can get a parts manual that shows details of how your machine is put together for free. in your case, type in "440" for model, click find, and down load the crawler PDF file. You can see how the adjuster works,more or less. If the link doesn't work, just copy the address below into your browser. good luck. Paul

Thanks, been to site and looked at it,your right it does give a great breakdown.Wondering how long scew part is, i dont want to force it if im at the end,will it spin out,looks like it could in pic.thanking u in advance john
