I am getting a considerable amount of blow by on my motor, when the motor gets warmed up the ol girl smokes out the oil breather and out the exhaust. How big of a job is it to tear down the motor and rebuild? Anybody have any idea what is would cost to rebuild?

Despite burning oil it seems to have plenty of power.

Thanks in advance,

You could actually hone and ring the engine in the crawler. I am not a fan of this though, these little two bangers almost always have egg shaped bores. If you want to do it correctly, parts are roughly $750, and around here, I get the machining done for about $600. That is a completely rebuilt engine from top to bottom, no corners cut. If you think you have power now, rebuild one and you will really love it.

Do you have any history on the ol' girl? Such as, did she sit-up for a long spell before you bought her? I've been lucky on some of the old stuff I've bought & freed sticky piston rings with Marvel Mystery Oil. It may just be snake oil, but it has worked for me! I use it religiously in the gas of my ol' Harleys & have not had valve seat recession issues like some. Caveat: I am notoriously cheap!

I was told to not use oil with detergent in these old machines, is there a difference and what is recommended? I wonder if this is causing the blow by? I seem to be burning a lot of oil, but no lack of power that I can tell. Although come to think of it, it pulls hills hard in 2nd gear and really smokes.
Lavoy, do you have a rebuild kit in stock?

Thanks in advance,
Cliff

No harm in the detergent oil, but if the inside of the engine is kind of gooey, it will tend to loosen up the deposits.
I don't keep all of the parts on hand, but short delay to get them.
