MC Crawler Steering

I just aquired a great machine ( serial # 18899 = 1952) that was on a local Vancouver Island farm and not being used ( in fact I was given it to 'get it out of the front yard'!!). It was sitting out in the weather and hadn't run in over a year, but the engine ran after an hour of 'tweaking' the points and distributer connections and plugs, along with a fuel drain and bowl cleanout! It has a blade which works fine, but here's the problem: I know the clutch is shot...in order to get it moving it must be started in gear. It'll move foreward in a straight line, but pushing on the brake peddle does nothing. The machine will only turn to the left when the left steering handle is pulled back. Pulling on the right lever does nothing.
I got a manual and have been reading directions for adjusting the brakes. I might be able to adjust the engine clutch with the adjustment cam, but likely won't work and if it does, would only be a temporary fix. So I think will likely have to break it apart to replace the engine clutch. Should I mess around with trying to adjust the brakes, or should I just 'go for it' and break the tracks to get at the right final drives? If I do that should I just do the left at the same time even though it is still working? Are all the parts for this kind of job still availlable? I think it would be cool to do a full restoration, but keep it a functional machine. Any advice would be appreciated.

If you are not afraid of doing the work, I guess I would drop both finals and go though the steering clutches, then you are done with them, and you know what you have. Same song on engine clutch, for what you paid for the crawler, you can't go wrong.

Thanks Lavoy...kinda knew you would say that...only way to do it is to do it right. Thanks for the advice...will likely be in touch as I dive in...never touched a Deere before...
