1010 buying question

I am looking at a 1010 diesel on Sunday. The gentleman is asking $3k firm. It is a loader, engine isn't running, and he was told both rear clutches needed work. I don't think it has been in service for close to 20 years. Is this ok if it looks alright otherwise? Are there some simple things I could check on the engine or what should I look for in general besides the tracks and sprockets etc? This kinda came out of left field and I am scared to let it go away. And yes it would be crawler number 2

Oh and also if someone knows how much a 1010 with a loader weighs that would help me decide which trailer to bring.

9400 pounds for just the crawler/loader. A rear ripper and/or counterweights will add to that figure.

that is hilarious. That's what I keep telling people I am doing. I am buying all the toys/tools I need now. Things are cheaper now and why not stimulate the economy

There are guys here who know much more than me... but! $3G for a machine that hasn't (and doesn't) run in 20 years? And needs clutch work "he was told"? Implying he's never operated his jewel? Whoa! I'd start by looking at the bottom, the cooling system and draining the oil out of it to see if there's any coolant in the oil (engine shot). Is this a buyout or a bailout? It doesn't sound like much of a machine to me; I'd wait a year 'til his wife gets REALLY mad and then do the charitable thing: offer to take the anchor off the property for a small fee.

THanks for keeping me in reality guys. I checked it out today. Ended up it was a gas not diesel. the radiator was crap. it did turn over when jumped. the clutch felt like it wasn't there, I don't know if that means it's bad or if it is hydraulic or what. gas tank was off. Distributor was missing one of the clamps. Seat was rotten. The right shift lever moved 2" and then I felt resistance so I thought that was good. the other just moved.

To make it even more interesting it was at a place where you had to cross a 5 ton limit bridge. I asked how they got it there, and they said they closed there eyes when they drove over it.

I don't think I am gonna pick it up as I am still working on my 440. Too much money for something that is unknown.

He says he is gonna take it to a different mechanic and get it going and sell it so if anyone is interested I can give ya the phone #.

I want to see the repair ticket when he picks it up after the "tune-up" from "the different mechanic". That should give the wife a fresh anger spasm.

That out of the way, your photo posting problem seems tied back to your service. The links you've got in the image command brackets aren't images. The HTTP is running a PHP script that the image processor won't know what to do with. What you need is to get a direct link to the image rather than coming in through the normal album view. The correct direct link will look more like "http://www.superpics.com/billspix/3757684.jpg" and not like what you've got.

You could either check the help for your service or give them a call. Just tell them that you're trying to post direct link to photos on another board and you need to know how to get the direct link address.

I have gallery running on Ubuntu. I don't think I can do the image thing as it is a database. I can check though. Thanks, -Tim

Tim,

If the images are actually stored in the database itself, game over. If on the other hand the images are stored in a separate directory and the database only has pointers to the file names, you just need to open up access for read to that directory and then paste the path name between the img commands. Let me check on how your app does it.
