1010 gas or diesel

Is there any way to tell if a 1010 dozer was originally gas or diesel?

My grandpa has a 1010, but the engine is painted green which leads me to believe that the original engine has been swapped with the engine out of a 1010 tractor

only thing is that the engine in it now is a gas engine and I think that it originally had a diesel in it, is there any way to tell?

The hood would have to have been changed as well, or a hole cut in the hood for the exhaust pipe.
