justin, from what i understand is that wheeled tractors share very little in the 3 point with with crawlers. i built mine, have close to 4-450 into it after buying steel, hydraulic parts, lift balls, stablizers, top link, leveler, and pins along with other small misc. items. i had just bought a new aftermarket 3 point that fit an M farmall, to retro fit too my 300 Case for 600 delivered from Tony Carbough Tractors. should be here any time! figured i couldnt make anther for that money. im sure it could be fitted to a crawler also.

Heres a few pics of a 1010 I had a few years ago. Only problem I had is the crawler 3pts dont float like the wheel tractors, so it was really easy to bury the tiller. otherwise it had plenty of power and did a good job.

Normally the 3PT is supposed to be on a valve with a float position, on a 1010 that is tough if you have a blade. On a two cylinder, not so tough.

thanks for the pics! i put a diverter valve in to run a separate hydraulic system. have a double spool one remote/one operates 3 piont with float or down pressure.

Lavoy, on that 1010 someone had switched the hoses so the 3pt was on the float circuit. I know I tried it, but it just didnt work like it should have. I just kept my eye on it and treated it like a blade.

Yeah, they react slow, only other option would be to go to one way hyd on the 3PT, but that is tougher to do on a 1010.

For some reason, the factory 3 point seems weak. About everyone I have seen is broken and/or has been repaired.
I don't really damage any grass with the 420 if I don't make crazy turns. That's with worn down grousers though. If it was a real muddy piece of grass, a crawler will actually do less damage than a wheel tractor.

Yea, the conditons have a lot to do with it. My big field that I cut during grass season is the first thing that you see when you get to the property.
Because of the property lines, I have sharp turns on the corners. My 440 has grousers that would eat some grass and dirt if I turned sharp.
I think I can run faster on a wheeled tractor also. At least, it is more comfortable.

i have semi-grousers on mine because of the loader. it dosent tear up too much, still need to be careful and sometimes look for a place to turn.

Hi,

I use a wheel tractor for most mowing, except for old pastures that have sat so long they're sprouting small trees.

When that happens, I use the crawler and a trailing brush hog. I set the blade about 6" high. What is too big pushes out of the ground. What isn't bends under the blade to be whacked by the hog.

I don't like using a wheel tractor in this case as sometimes one can get a small tree that bends and is whacked only to be big and tough enough to push thru a tire.

That's not happening with a crawler! :)

Otherwise, I'd rather (a) move faster and (b) not tear the ground up on turns.

Later!

Stan

thought i would mention that i recieved that aftermarket 3 point bout 2 weeks ago. got it on the tractor, it is a simple stout unit and see no reason why it cant be adapted to a crawler for who may be looking, ill try to get pics some time in the future.
