1010 crawler with dozer blade

Post by Roger2561 » Thu Apr 15, 2010 7:37 am

Hi all, I have 1010 crawler. Due to cancer treatments the unit has been sitting for about 2 years. I have decided to sell it. Younger bro is buying from me. Before he picks it up I have told him that I'd get it running so he didn't have to bother. I have 2 concerns;

1) I have changed engine oil, and primary and secondary oil filters. I topped off the hydraulic resevior with fresh fluid. Drained then added fresh fuel, clean setiment bowl. Once I was satified that I checked everything, I started it. It started immediately, I was amazed. I had noticed the temp gauge kept going higher and higher. Changed thermostat, problem solved. But, I noticed this morning that there appears to be some anti-freeze around injector No. 1. Where could this have come from? Before I was diagnosed with cancer, it ran like a top with no fluid leaks. So now I'm concerned about the anti-freeze and where it's coming from.

2) This unit has a dozer blade attached to it. But, it has over time become very weak. No amount of welding will help it. Does anyone know where I can get another one? I'm not rich so I can't spend a whole lot for it. Oh, the frame is an outside the track mount.

All suggestions will be taken under consideration.

Thanks in advance.

When you say you saw antifreeze around the injector, I assume you mean on the outside of the injector. Is it possible that the antifreeze dripped or was sprayed into that area from a radiator or hose leak when you changed the thermostat?

If it is directly around the injector, then I would lean towards the drip or spray idea. If it is around the pre-combustion chamber, then it is likely an o-ring.
