I"m not talking about the little tubes, I'm talking about what they screw into. What are those?

I cannot tell from the picture if it is connected properly. Your service manual will explain it.
The shutoff lever should be well above the projecting nut on the left.

Kraker,
The fuel supply and return lines go to the injector. It is a mechanical injector that runs off the middle rocker arm and is controlled by the fuel rack.

When installing injector, do not tighte n
injector clamp nut to more than 20-25 ft-lb
torque as this may distort the injector an d
cause working parts to bind . The fuel pipes
should be tightened to a torque not exceeding
12-15 ft-lb to prevent damage to the seatin g
surfaces of fuel pipe or connector. The rocker
arm bracket bolts should be tightened to
a torque of 50-55 ft-lb when reassembling .
After installing injector, position injecto r
control racks and adjust the exhaust valv e
lash to the cold setting as outlined unde r
"Engine Tune-Up" in Section 40 .

You really need to get the manuals, they will answer almost all your questions.

Again, I have ordered the manuals. I'm asking questions because they have not arrived yet and the tractor is stuck in my yard and I'm trying to get it into the shop to work on it when the manuals arrive.

Now I blead the fuel system, but the rear cylender seems to still be getting air into the line. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Dead Cylinder

Post by KRAKR » Wed Jun 02, 2010 2:09 am

Well I fixed the dead cylinder problem, even w/o a book. Right about the time I got finished, the mail came and one of the 3 books I ordered arrived, just not the one for the engine. I'm pretty sure it has the upgrade pistons in it, being that I havn't started it in 3 days, and once I was done messing with the fuel system, 2 cranks and bam running like a top w/o ether.

It would kind of sound like it. Normally at 60 degrees they won't want to start too well with S series pistons.

Well I was thumbing threw the book on the chassis, and decided that I would see if I could get the steering working. Did some adjustments on the clutches and, just like that it turns both ways, effortlessly. Also I fixed the radiator hose that was leaking, just had to remove the nose cone and hydrolic resivoir.

The only two issues that are left is the clutch pedal, which feels just like a free hanging pedal (not hooked to anything) and the brake pedal which starts to slow the crawler if I push it really really hard.

That's it for now.

KRAKR,

Just watching a couple of your youtube vids. Looks like a nice crawler.
In case no one has told you using the reverser like you are doing as a clutch is a BIG no-no. Get the clutch fixed before you total the reverser. You are only supposed to move the reverser handle with the engine clutch released and the machine not moving. The little ears on those small clutch linings may be toast the way you are shifting it. Last I heard it is close to a grand to replace those.

Yes, good call Chuck, I hadn't noticed that. Clutch discs are about $85/each for the metallics, plus many days hard labor to install them. NEVER use a reverser without first depressing the clutch pedal.

Thanks for the input about the reverser.

I'll try and get the clutch working properly.
