Ripper from a 440
I just picked up ripper that a friend took off a 440. It's solid but has quite a bit of rust and has seen some modifications to hold thinner 1" replacement shanks so needless to say there aren't any markings on it. I'd like to identify which model it is and maybe find a manual/parts catalog on it. Were there a few popular rippers used on these machines?
Thanks, Roger
Thanks, Roger

If it is the original ripper for the 3 point hitch (5 shanks), it is likely a JD model 24 Scarifier.

Thanks for the reply and photo. I forgot to mention that I don't have a 3-point and that it came off a machine that was set up for a backhoe with the 4 pin connection so it has 2 hydraulic cylinders and a single spool control as well. Was there a common ripper used for the 4-pin set-up?

I am not familar with that set up on a 440, possibly Lavoy or some others on here may be.
