Hey guys, I am currently working on a 1949 MC that I got from my uncle when he passed away.
The starter button hasn't worked for a few years, and Im just trying to determine which wires connect where, to get it going again. (I plan on building a new wiring harness for it one of these days, but its not any rush!)
One wire I assume goes to the solenoid (this solenoid has three prongs on it, one to the starter one to the battery, and one little one up top)
Does the other wire just come from the switch so that when ya turn the switch on, it sends power to the button, then by pressing the button that would engage the solenoid?
Someone have a picture of theirs?

As Lavoy said, these did not have a solenoid from the factory. The original wiring has a hot from the batt to the starter. It is a mechnical pull rod that makes contact to turn the starter.
If you want to keep it original, try to locate a 6 V starter with the mechnical switch on the side. The switches are readily avaiable. If you cannot locate an original pull rod, you can fab one out of round stock.

MC starter button
Preppypyro,
You can wire this button whichever way you want to. If you want to be able to crank the engine without starting it (handy at times) then take the wire to the positive battery cable (either at the battery or at the starter). If you want it to only crank when you have the key on, then take the wire to the switch like you mentioned.
I just was thinking... has it been converted it to negative ground, or is it still positive ground? In fact, did they convert it to 12 volts?
Call me if you have any questions. I'll try to help.
