setting govenor

Post by tinkerer » Sat Apr 22, 2006 4:02 pm

Not having a tach on my 440 ic ,I would like to know what tach to use to set the govenor for the proper rpm. I used to have a tach&dwell, but it didn't have a setting for 2 cyl anyway , what do you guys use?

If you have a mechanical tach, you can read off of the PTO shaft, set it to about 600RPM. If you set a dwell meter to 4 cylinder, I think you would just double the reading.
