I need help....1957 420C

Post by JD Tim » Sun Jun 05, 2011 7:59 am

Well I bought my first crawler and got it home to find it has a spun rod bearing. I was going to rebuild the bottom end of the engine but I'm having a hard time finding parts. As it looks to me the crank needs turned as well as the rods. While I have it apart I was going to put a new clutch disk in it as well. Where are some reputable places to get parts or does anyone on here have some that they would be willing to part with? Thanks in advance for your help. Tim

P.S. I'll get some pictures up as soon as I can.

Well I may not be reputable, but I sell all of the parts you mention.

Well from lurking on here for a little bit you seem a bit more than reputable. What is the best way to get in contact with you?

And where is a good place to get a service manual for the crawler? I have the parts manual already.

I would check on Ebay, lots of manuals on there. I don't stock the manuals any more.

Willyr's link will get you the free parts manual.
If you want the Service Manual direct from Deere go to: https://www.johndeeretechinfo.com and enter Construction and 420. You will want to go to page 2 and look at the Service Manual not the Operators Manual. A paper copy is currently $104, a CD version is $58, a DVD $68 (why it is $10 more than a CD is beyond me), and a download is $47.
