420C electrical question

Post by 63DH8 » Mon Jul 18, 2011 10:54 pm

I got ready to install a battery in my newly purchase 420C, and had a thought. Even though the red cable went to the starter, I couldn't help but question if this crawler wasn't a positive ground. If you look at this picture, you'll why I had to question. Let's just say this may be the level of knowledge the previous owner has in regards to maintenance. Creative, yes! However, it made me stop and ask if the 420 is positive or negative ground.

btw... Does anyone know where I can get a electrical schematic for this tractor?

By the looks of the switch its one of the extremely rare, possibly one of a kind, 110 volt models.

The old trusty SPST wall switch. I guess you would never exceed the rating of 110V.

Revolting, or re-volting?

I discovered the local JD dealer has the correct light switch in stock for a mere $130.
