crawler steering clutch disk

Post by Vinny Cavaliere » Sun Oct 02, 2011 3:59 pm

I am going thru my machine and am into the clutch disk. The steel ones look pretty bad with some pitting etc. but the fiber ones I am not sure about. The specs. are .145 to .151 for new. Mine are mikeing .148 to .158. they do not look like any oil has been on them and look fairly clean, I laid them on a flat plate and rubbed them on a fine piece of sand paper slightly. Because they are slightly over spec. can I still use them.
Thanks Vinny

As long as there is no oil, or they don't look weak and have chips in the teeth, you can probably get by. Just keep in mind the amount of work to replace them if you are wrong, so look at them carefully.
