440 ICD Info
Just bought a 440 ICD that my dad logged with in the early 70's been trying for the last 20 years but finally got it done My question is how many were built and how late in production was mine built It is serial number 461833 Thanks.
The info I have says the last 440ICD was 461925 and the last 440IC was 461929. While the first 2-53 was 444801 and I am not sure if it was a crawler or tractor. More S/N info in the FAQ topic of this forum.

congratulations on your purchasing quest... 20 years is 20 years,
i think your serial # is of the absolute latest run of 440's made. late 1960.
does yours have the pilot shift dash? that is located below the serial number plate, centered on the dash, a cast-in mounting (hole).
and tell us what kind of blade you have on it,,

440 ICD Info
Thanks guys for the information. The dozer that i have has a inside blade frame and manual tilt and angle attachment . The winch is a Gearmatic with fair leads and has a mdl X710 brake/clutch controler. But there is no tag on winch or blade with model or serial numbers. As for the dash with the hole in the center it is there but there is no shifter .The reverser is on the left side of dash.A it has a 5spd trans with the shift tower on top of the transmission. Thanks again.

It would be a rare find to locate a Pilot Touch console. JD decided to remove them as they were more trouble than they were worth. When working properly, they were good. But it took so much to get them adjusted properly and keep them working.
Sounds like a Model 63 blade, provided it is a JD and not an aftermarket.

I am positive that it is the factory blade . Looks just like the one on the 440 on this site in the photo gallery that is pushing snow. Where is the best place to get parts for the winch and hydraulic control for a gearmatic system.
