1953- 40- 3 roll--gearmatic ????

Yesterday i read on a site???? that a true 53/3 roll 40 would not take a gearmatic,,,due to a one peice shaft,,i think it said pto, can anyone say if this is correct?? and if i take my winch of my 420 will work if i swap the SAID shaft. i am :?: realy in the fog about this one,,,Thanks emile

All I can say is park them side by side and compare.
How the winch mounts and where the pto shaft is in relationship to the mounts is all that matters as far as I know.

No, it will not work, and the shaft can not be swapped.

Yes,sir..Lavoy,,it was your post in a yesterdays tractor 06 post where i first read about the winch not fit the early 40,, and i did not know when there is a winch on my 420 there is no pto..my 40 has a total of 2000hrs and is the 60874,very early, there is still green paint on the inside of the shoes,, emile
