What is the best way to weld cracks in front idler ?

Vee it out, or cut the crack out completely and weld back together.

What type of welder works best ( wire or stick ) ?
Are the idlers cast ?

If you get the weld area clean, MIG would work fine. Be sure to run plenty of amperage and get good penetration.
