420 rollers

Post by rheadrick » Sun May 27, 2012 7:20 am

Hello everyone, My 420c has good looking rollers on both sides but after jacking the machine up the right side has a lot of play in all 4 rollers. The left side is nice and tight so my question is rebuild the right rollers if possible, or purchase new ones if available.

I think someone just posted in another forum that you can still get the bushings.
The hardest part about repairing them is getting the end caps off. I tried to redo a few of mine and couldn't get those caps off.
You can find good used ones out there. jdemarris has said he paid about $100 each for some from a salvage yard.

By the time you add in bushings, thrust plates and seals, you are well past price of a new roller, and the axles are obsolete if they are worn, which is likely.
Best be is to go with new, or if you can find good used ones.

One more question, I guess there is no harm running the crawler ( until I get new rollers) with worn roller bushings since the shafts i suppose are shot already.

Supply is sporadic, but I sell new sealed lifetime rollers when I can get them. Last price I knew was $125/each.
