420c Hydraulics

Post by rheadrick » Wed May 30, 2012 12:06 pm

My 420c with a #62 blade is painfully slow to raise the blade. It takes about 30 to 45 seconds to raise from the ground to full height. It also will leak down pretty fast when first started and gets better when it warms up. some times it works better than others ( as far as leak down ) . Is this the result of leaky check valves or could it be a weak pump. There is no leaking anywhere an I changed the fluid already with no change. Thanks

sounds like the cylinders are in need of rebuild. seals can be found at a heavy equipment or hydraulic shop and are relatively inexpensive. ( i found *most* cylinders are less than $30 for parts) probably pull them apart to measure pistons and glands for seals.
