I am looking for some information on a serial number research through 2 Cylinder Club on a 440 tractor or crawler.
On a 40U, they came standard from the factory green, if it was special ordered as another color they have a CJ code. My 40U has a "CJ41 Description Is Not Available" because it was special ordered as orange.
On 430C, once again standard from factory in green, my CJ code is "CJ265 Industrial Yellow Paint".
What I am looking for clarification on, is on 440's, that came standard from the factory as yellow, does the SN research document have a CJ code? Does it state "Industrial Yellow Paint"? Or does it not stay anything about the color unless special order? If special ordered as green would that have a CJ??? code for green?
Anyone have any insight?
Thanks!

I thought CJ means "custom job", CJ265 was not industrial yellow I did not think, but can't find my notes now. Very few of the Dubuque codes are known, Two Cylinder will know which ones are. Keep in mind, years ago when the registry was computerized, some stuff got lost in the translation so to speak. I have seen 420 or 430 crawler with "power steering" and other options not available on a crawler.

Hi,
A 440 is standard painted in yellow. So, no CJ code. If a 440 were ordered in green, then it would have a CJ code.
I did know of couple 440 crawlers painted in green, but do not know if they were ordered green, or painted afterwards.

As far as I know, paint never received a CJ number as long as it was a standard Deere color. If you wanted highway dept orange or red or something, then it would likely have a CJ number. Also from what I know, CJ265 is a common Custom Job number that I have heard on many different tractors, but has never been defined.
