Purchased this 1958? 3 owner crawler today. In excellent working order with gearmatic 8A winch. Cab has tag that says Cabco portland ore. Tell me what you see as I'm still learning.....I was wondering if the grill is original or home made.

Looks like plenty of adjustment left on the tracks. What is the front attachment? Looks like a brush ripper. Does the winch work? gregjo1948

Early crawlers are just a piece of heavy expanded mesh, late crawlers have a flat steel plate similar to what you have.

Is that a factory "approved" Roll over canopy? Just curious if that is what a factory canopy looks like, I never seen one before.

I don' think it is rated as an actual roll over protection, it was manufactured by Cabco in portland oregon, as it still has the tag. They do work well to keep limbs and the such from giving you "memory bumps". They are very popular on the dozers from the pacific northwest.

This one came with my dozer also, it is much lighter and may have been for an MC or other model, not sure, looks to be modified on the sweeps.

This one has the same tag and manufacturer, but it mounts different. Also is this the correct grille Lavoy?

Sooo....I also got the Original operators manual for the crawler, it is a 1958 SN 441146 and the instruction manual for the 8A winch, very happy. What I have read the early ones have the small transmission. Is this an issue? It has been sitting for two years without any use, should I change All the fluids and filters? Another question for you cold climate guys, as it will be going to my place on the east side where it was 3deg f last weekend, any tips or tricks? Thanks for your time.....

I haven't read of any small transmissions issues on here.
As for cold weather, since you're a gas make sure you have a good battery and she's tuned up properly and I think you'll be fine. Lots of guys on here don't have issues when it's cold.
If you really wanted, you could buy a dipstick heater or some stick-on heaters for the oil pan. That might help get a little warmth in the engine and make it easier.
