Another MC question

Post by mapaduke@yahoo.com » Mon Jan 04, 2016 4:16 pm

Been working on rebuilding the track frames, made new spacers that the carriage bolts go through, I used the same measurement from the old ones and now with it bolted to gather the frame is to narrow for the ideler to slide on? I feel that if I make the spacers any longer the roles with run lose?
Any thoughts

See if your idlers will screw together any more, that can make a difference.

You can only go as tight as the idler brackets will go into the idler bushings. Plus, the threads on the axle are not any sort of standard thread, they are tapered like pipe thread.

That explains why they were so hard to get apart lol
I thank the Lindeman's for giving us the crawler but would rather work on a four or five role any day.
