JD440 IC flush the hydraulics
Can someone tell me how to flush the hydraulic system. I changed it once but it is so bad looks like water still in the old oil its still murky. I heard flushing with hydraulic oil/diesel works. But which hose do I take off to start bleeding it until new oil comes through?
Re: JD440 IC flush the hydraulics
I have read several articles/members using Seafoam with good results. There is a lot of fluid in the cylinders and hoses that will need purged.
Re: JD440 IC flush the hydraulics
When Deere talks about flushing, you drain the reservoir and refill with kerosene, but diesel would do the same thing. Run the system, but do NOT touch any of the hyd levers, that would introduce whatever you use into the cylinders. Drain out the flush, and refill with hyd oil. Other than disassembly, there is no good way to clean out the cylinders. You could take them off and with the hoses disconnected, cycle them by hand to get as much oil out as possible. Other than doing that, I would add Seafoam as has been suggested.

I use a whole bottle. I also like to do it when I know I am going to be using the crawler for a while so the oil warms up too.
