final drive housing 420c

Post by DozerAndy » Tue May 29, 2007 11:42 am

I want to fabricate a lifting yoke similar to the one shown in the service manual for lifting the final drive housing away from the steering clutch housing, but I don't have the crawler handy to measure the distance between to top two bolt holes in the final drive assembly. If anyone has this measurement, I would greatly appreciate it (save me an extra 1 hour trip out to the crawler). Any other setups that others have used to lift the assembly?

lifting final drive housing

it takes a little elbow grease and some choice words but i was able to remove and replace mine using awide saddle floor jack to support the weight and two decent sized pince bars in two upper bolt holes to use as guides. don

Here's a post I did a while back and all the replies. Every one of the ideas works. In the end the one I settled on being the easiest for me was a chain and couple of bolts.

Thanks for the replies and the link. A wealth of information here. Hopefully the final will come off as easy as the track.
