Well i got to take a look at he old girl, pins and bushings look pretty good engine moves with a pry bar,...seat gone mount bent to hell n gone, front idler spokes every one of them appear to have been broken and welded, however he does have extra idlers to go with it.

also 420 dozer tracks and shoes..which i wonder will they fit on 440 icd ??...also have spare 420 sprockets and will those fit on 440?...outside now muffler covered but was stored in barn for umpteen years...weight i guess at about 8-9000???? still 6 volts

440icd is sad needs pins n bushing, maybe sprockets, starter...radiator dry, tranny oil..nasty, air cleaner plain nasty with oil over lips and seals..

By the way any chance of changeover on the track adjusters on the 420s to the hydraulic adjusters???
And how many track shos on 5 roller 420...35 or 36?

And dumb tractor data doesn't show the 440 serial numbers...440icd serial number 453475 date????....Makes this a 1958..2 years older and deeper in debt pins bushing etc etc

420 tracks will fit, but are short.
Sprockets may fit.
No, no way to put 440 adjusters on a 420.
Serial numbers are in the FAQ's section.

So that info.. 420 short on 440 would seem to indicate that the number of track shoes would be at 35 and not 36 like on the 440

Well folks am a bit curious now...my left brake lever seems to be completely loose as in something disconnected or broken, have not even had chance to look underneath to see if anything visible there as yet, but from my 440 days i do not believe much of anything a gonna be visible. So it seems gona be a bit of work here -- probably in the brake finals. did get the starter out and to be fixed will p.u. in a.m. so i can see how she turns over and blow oil out of spark plug holes...if turns over, can turn with pry bar so hoping to get some results...

By the way, bought a new laptop, blamed thing has something called s mode....which will NOT let me open jdcrawlersite, so am stymied with getting pics uploaded...Just a head-up to ya'll....lovely of microsoft b.s....only wants ya to buy their products and apps
