2010C S/N 39994 fuel filter conversion

Post by BQ050 » Sun May 12, 2024 6:04 am

Last fall i joined the forum and introduced myself and my newly acquired 2210 dozer. This spring I am starting to work through maintenance items on the unit. I saw reference in a post to a conversion to a "spin on" fuel filter system to replace the OEM cannister style Can anyone provide any detail on this conversion? Parts list, Cost, pictures, Instruction, difficulty, and is it even worth doing. Thanks

If your tank is clean and buy clean fuel you don't need to change fuel filters that often. If your tank is dirty and you end up contaminating your fuel you buy, you need to fix those things first, the problem will still be there with a spin-on filter if you don't.

Someone may have a parts list from one they did, but I can't say I have seen any. I doubt you will find one neat package of the things you are looking for (Parts list, Cost, pictures, Instruction, difficulty). There are filter bases and such available but finding one that says this spin-on replaces the original filters on a 2010 is a different story, you would need to figure out the right one or enlist a n injection repair shop to help you.

You would need to find the micron rating of the current filters and match that in the new filter to protect the pump. One appropriately sized spin-on could handle the flow. You could look at the rectangle glass filters JD went to after they changed from replaceable elements, spin-on filters came after the rectangular filters. You would likely need to fabricate a mounting bracket for the new filter base and rework or replace the fuel lines that attach to the filter. Prices will vary with what you find to use for parts and if you can do it all yourself or have to hire some of it done.

You could call or direct email Lavoy and see if he can put a "spin-on filter kit" together for you.

Just my thoughts, I would not bother with converting it.

When I read the post this morning the closest I had read about such was the spin on oil filter conversion.
