Cousin with a 2010 diesel threw a rod through block. I've got a 1010c diesel, in pieces, at one time was going to fix it.
Can he use entire engine, or parts, to repair his? I'm seeing 2010 might be same block? From what I've read, they are different displacement and HP.
Also, how do I find out the year for the 1010c? No serial number plate on motor, and don't see one on transmission.

Without the plate on the engine I don't think you can figure out an exact year.
Below are links to the 1010C and 2010C parts books online. You can make a list and compare parts between the two. I took a quick look at a couple things.
The 1010C diesel is a 145 cu.in. (2.4L). The 2010 diesel is a 165 cu.in. (2.7L). The gas one is a 145 cu.in. (2.4L). so the 2010C had a larger displacement engine. I did not search every block, but it didn't see any matches, in a quick look.
The rear plate that goes between the back of the engine and the clutch housing appears to be the same part number so the engine should bolt to the clutch housing.
I can't say how the 1010 flywheel will match to the 2010 transmission arrangement. You will have to search part numbers and radiator connections.
Below are links to the two online parts catalogs, if you don't have them, so you can search and compare part numbers.

Good luck, someone might be along that has done this actual swap or put a 2010 engine in a 1010C
