Hi,
Yes, I think so. 2 gal / hr is the most my 420 has used when working hard. And, the gas 440 is really no different than a phase 3 420.

working on a 440, eh!!
Looks like you got a good start on your rebuild, just a few comments and suggestions.
- you can unstick a Detroit injector very easily. Have done many in the past few months as my dad and I have been firing up our collection of for sale engines. All you need to do is remove the valve cover, fuel rack and fuel lines. Spray a penetrant like fluid film in the fuel fittings, fuel rod and the spring. Pry the valve spring up and wiggle the fuel rod back and forth. Turn the motor with a wrench until the injector is activated and continue to pry the spring up until it retuns normally
- the tin on your machine is not from a 350, it is something homemade
- your machine has the rock shaft portion of a 3 point hitch, mounts on top of the tranny
- if you are replumbing, consider moving both valves to one side for easier operation
- final drive - best to recheck the bearing preload on the axle after a few hours, plus check the non offending side as well
I really enjoy my ICD and will be putting some more work into it this winter. Needs electrical, gauges and seat install. Still have fun with it the way it is grading the yard.

Hey thanks for the injector tip. Unfortunately I won't be able to try it out because I already carried them to be rebuilt. Your right about the tin. I thought it was from a 350 and had been modified. I logged quite a few hours on a 350 back in my forestry commission days and I got to thinking about it after you said it wasn't off a 350. If I remember right, the arm rests raise up on both sides on a 350. I also forgot about the fuel tank being behind the seat.
