40C going back together

Post by Randytheorgfarmer » Fri Apr 10, 2015 4:35 pm

A few questions, what is the deal with adjusting the main clutch? Is there an adjusting gauge or tool? I was wondering why they don't make Stainless steel steering clutch disc plates? And l would like know what kind of PTO Winch can be used on a 40 crawler? Randy

If you mean adjusting the fingers on the pressure plate, directions are in the FAQ's section of the board.
If you mean freeplay in the clutch pedal, adjuster is on the LH side of the bellhousing down from the sediment bowl. Takes 3/4" wrench and 3/8" wrench if I remember correctly.
I made stainless clutch discs for years, still have two left I think. They just did not sell well, and hard to get the correct thickness, I ended up making them a little thicker than I wanted to, and so sometimes it was hard to get the fingers to adjust.
