The final drive gears should have a heavy gear oil and the hydraulic is the same as a tire tractor.( 303 I think )

IF you use 303 in the hyd, you will get more squeal, and lose some pressure, but won't hurt anything. A straight weight hyd oil is better in these old girls.
Trans and finals are GL5.

Sorry to hijack this thread.....but.......i have a similar question.Does a 40-C have any yellow metal in the trans or finals?Another one of those GL-5 concerns.......

Sta-Lube Hypoid GL-4 85w90 or Lucas Heavy Duty GL-5 85w140?

Thanks guys!

Some do, but still okay to run GL5.
As an aside, I have some anecdotal evidence in a factory service bulletin that they were putting 303 in some from the factory. I have always wanted to try it, just haven't had the balls. 350 runs 303 in everything, so I can't see why it would hurt.
I personally run 75W-90 Mobil SHC synthetic gear lube.
