MC clutch help?

Post by KScrawler » Mon May 18, 2015 4:34 pm

I bought 2 MC's at auction about a month ago. After switching entire under carriages over between the two and getting one running I noticed the right hand steering clutch is pretty weak compared to the opposite side.

My question is, will it hurt to run it having a weak clutch?

Do I run it until it quits?

Does anyone have experience replacing a steering clutch?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I also have an MC on the way but have 3 other machines. You will find that pretty soon that weak clutch will be slipping so bad is won't move on that side. I had similar problem with my 350, stuck clutch which I freed easily, but it immediately started to slip and now won't move on that side. If you can change tracks, you have the skills to pull the clutch housing and change out the disks/plates. Not that hard. If I find a PDF of the crawler portion of the manual, I'll send it to you. It's SM-2003.
