steering clutch

hi,i am a new owner of an old jd 1010c loader with a 35 ripper gas powered crawler. i have used it to push snow so far but the left clutch is not at all working, so now its down for repair a big job for one who has never done it before, i easly found the books to use as references and now for lots of work. wish me luck. i also am looking for a radiator cap cover for the hood ? any one want to sell me a used one ? thanks and happy to be a crawler fan

When you slide the final drive housing out, you'll need to rotate it to clear the track frame. When installing the final drive housing, be sure to locate the brake ban over the drum. I have replaced a brake ban in less than 4 hours but I've been into clutch work a few times and have the procedure down. You may be looking at a bit more time being a dozer steering clutch virgin. gregjo1948

thanks for the heads up on specific procedure on that model final drive, that is a must and worked well. I found the clutch pretty well rusted togather, although like new,and the brake band also like new but destroyed due to a bad install. Off to get parts and carefully and correctly put that crawler back to work/ play
