Transmission or main pump?

Post by David Hunter » Mon Jun 01, 2015 6:56 pm

Hello in the camp. So being new here thanks for any info you guys can help me with my 550 (a) crawler. Bought it a few months ago and it worked ok on demo. Got it home pulled good 20 min. then everything stopped pulling properly. Checked pressures on several ports . The Main pressure is appox. 180psi. I see where it should be 255 +-12psi. My question is if the main pressure is to low at high idle is oil slipping through the clutches or is the low pressure allowing the oil through? Or as I hope it isn't rebuild trany time or hopefully a rebuilt pump. Thanks for any help. biglevee

This question should really be in the late model thread. This thread is for mainly the 2010Cs and older. Perhaps Lavoy can move it. I thought Ma Deere was real big on skipping A models, the basic crawler was a 550 and the first main revision was to 550 B.
